# 9 Herkimer grinds out home win vs Cayuga, 61-42

Herkimer, NY - The Herkimer Generals Women's Basketball team was back in action after a month off and turned back the Cayuga Spartans by a score of 61-42 on Tuesday night in the Varsity Gym. With the win the Generals, ranked # 9 in the latest NJCAA Division III Poll, improved their record to 9-1 on the season.

Playing for the first time since a Dec 7 loss to OCC, the Generals and Spartans both struggled to find any rhythm throughout the game. Herkimer shot out to a 23-15 lead at the end of the first quarter and then held the Spartans to just 5 second quarter points to take a 35-20 lead into the half. Cayuga tried to battle back in the third quarter and got as close as 6 points before the Generals went on a run at the beginning of the 4th quarter to secure the win.

Freshman center Alysia Roldan (East Greenbush, NY) paced the Generals attack with 16 points on the night. Senior Lexi DeBeatham (Menands, NY) pitched in with 13 points and Junasia Lanier (Albany, NY) added 11 points.

Next up for Herkimer is a home matchup with Division II Niagara CCC as part of the Herkimer College Philly Classic on Saturday, January 11th. Game time is set for 4:00 PM.
