Women's Basketball climbs to # 4 in National Poll

Herkimer, NY - Fresh of a 63-60 upset win over previously # 2 North Country on Monday afternoon, the Herkimer Generals Women's Basketball team has climbed to # 4 in the latest NJCAA Division III Women's Basketball Poll. The Generals currently have a record of 11-2 on the season and are currently in first place in the Mountain Valley Conference with a record of 4-0.

Coach Gabe Coffey, who is in her third season at the helm at Herkimer, relies on a balanced scoring attack that features 4 players that average double figures, led by senior guard Lexi DeBeatham (Menands, NY), who averages 13.8 points per game. Freshman center Alysia Roldan (East Greenbush, NY) averages 13.3 points per game along with a team high 8 rebounds per contest. Freshman guards Junasia Lanier (Albany, NY) and Amber Been (Bronx, NY) contribute with 12.6 and 10.8 points a game respectively. Herkimer averages 71 points per game while holding opponents to just 50.9.

Coach Coffey "I am very proud of our accomplishments thus far, the team has worked very hard to get to this point, but we are only as good as our next game" The Generals are in the midst of a tough stretch where they will play 4 games against nationally ranked teams within 9 days, beginning with the rematch with North Country on Wednesday night, Jan 22 followed by two home matchups against OCC on Monday, Jan 27 and concluding with a game against rival Mohawk Valley Community College on Wednesday night January 29 at 5:00 PM.
