Herkimer women get two wins over the weekend vs Clinton and Cayuga

Herkimer, NY and Auburn, NY - The #10 Herkimer Generals had a busy weekend as they swept two games from Clinton CC and Cayuga CC. On Saturday, the Generals cruised to a 80-42 home win vs the Cougars before traveling to Auburn on Sunday to edge the Spartans by a score of 64-61. The wins give Herkimer and overall record of 15-4 on the year and 7-1 in the Mountain Valley Conference.

In Saturday's win vs Clinton, senior guard Samantha Pena (Bronx, NY) had a career high 18 points and freshman forward Emilie Perez (Cooperstown, NY) added her own career high in points with 8. Senior Lexi DeBeatham (Menands, NY) continued her strong play by leading the Generals with 19 points.

Sunday's game was a different story as the Generals had to battle back from a halftime deficit with a big third quarter before hanging on for the road win against Cayuga. Guard Amber Been (Bronx, NY) led the charge with 16 points while DeBeatham and Namir Davis (Utica, NY) pitched in with 13 points apiece. Junasia Lanier (Albany, NY) added 11 in the come from behind win.

Herkimer returns home on Wednesday night, Feb 5th to take on their conference rivals from Fulton-Montgomery CC. This will be a first of a back to back against the Raiders as the Generals will travel to Johnstown for Game 2 on Feb 10th. Game time for Wednesday's home contest is set for 5:00 PM.
