Herkimer women’s basketball players earn postseason awards

HERKIMER, NY—The Mountain Valley Conference and Region III recently named four Herkimer College women’s basketball players to their All-Conference and All-Region teams for the 2019-2020 season. The Generals finished their season with a record of 19-6 and a berth in the Region III Final Four.

Alexandra DeBeatham, a sophomore guard from Menands, New York, was named Second Team All-Region and First Team All-Conference. She averaged 14.6 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest. She also led the Generals with 42 3-pointers while shooting just under 40 percent from behind the arc. DeBeatham also led Herkimer by shooting 72 percent from the free throw line.

Freshman guards Amber Been, of Bronx, New York, and Junasia Lanier, from Albany, New York, were named to the Second Team for the Mountain Valley Conference. Been averaged 13.2 points and a team-high 3.2 steals per game for the Generals. Lanier was right behind with 12.3 points and five rebounds per contest.

Sophomore guard Namir Davis, from Utica, New York, was named to the Mountain Valley Conference Third Team as she notched eight points per game and was considered one of the best defenders in Region III.
