Neish era begins with 6-0 win over SUNY Adirondack

Herkimer, NY - The Herkimer College Women's Soccer team opened their Fall 2021 campaign with a 6-0 Mountain Valley Conference win over SUNY Adirondack on Wednesday night at Wehrum Stadium. The victory was also the first collegiate win for new Herkimer Head Coach Damon Neish.

Sophomore Kayla Suppa (Oneida, NY) scored the first of her three goals on the evening just 8 minutes in the game to give Herkimer a 1-0 lead. Kurstin Gay (Herkimer, NY) tallied 2 goals within 7 minutes of each other late in the first half to give the Generals a 3-0 halftime lead.

Faith Stewart (Little Falls, NY) notched her first goal early in the second half to extend Herkimer's lead to 4-0. Suppa rounded out the Generals scoring with goals at the 31:58 and 11:10 mark to give Herkimer the 6-0 final score. Hannah Spofford (Dolgeville, NY) added 2 assists and Isabella Smith earned the shutout in goal for Herkimer.

Next up for the Generals, ranked #5 in the latest NJCAA Division III National Poll, is a trip to Hudson, NY on Wednesday Sept 8th for a Mountain Valley Conference game against the Columbia-Greene Twins. Herkimer first road game of the season is set to start at 4:00 PM.
