Generals place well in home match

HERKIMER, NY – The Herkimer Generals Bowling team continued their competition at Ilion State Bowling Alley last Thursday, February 6th. When finished, the men finished fifth overall (2691 pins) and the women finished third overall (2235 pins).

For the men, who won one match, had solid contributions from Trevor Marston (Georgetown, NY), Christopher LaJuett (Troy, NY), Adam Kozecke (Endwill, NY), Joseph Hilts (Marcy, NY), Thomas Carlson (Apalachin, NY) and Philip Tanner (Deposit, NY). Marston and LaJuett led the way, both bowling over a 600 series, with Marston outdueling his teammate by three pins (616; 177, 235, 204), and LaJuett finishing with 613 (171, 266, 176). Marston, the only General to rank in the Top 15 in the Mountain Valley Conference, has knocked down 3,005 pins to date, an average of 200 per game.

No other male bowled over 600 Thursday, with Kozecke finishing with 556 (185, 182, 189), Hilts finishing with 475 (140, 179, 156), Carlson finishing with 419 (153, 136, 130) and Tanner finishing with 400 (137, 148, 115).

The women, who had six compete, was again led by Selena Barber (Mayfield, NY). She bowled a 544 (140, 222, 182), an average of 181.3 per game. Barber is just outside the Top 15 in pins accumulated in the Mountain Valley Conference, ranking 16th with 2,569 pins. After Barber, Destiny LeRoy (Sodus, NY) bowled a 462 (149, 164, 149), Rebecca Fogerty (Ilion, NY) bowled a 442 (162, 133, 147), Danielle Flander (Fonda, NY) bowled a 406 (129, 132, 145), Jena Soper (Harrisville, NY) bowled a 381 (112, 136, 133) and Desiree Gallup (Wells, NY) bowled a 365 (108, 129, 128).

The bowling team will be back in action tomorrow (2/12). They’ll be traveling to Schenectady County Community College. Competition is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
