Generals grab first road win of season with 3-1 win at Fulton-Montgomery

Johnstown, NY - The Herkimer Generals opened the road portion of their Fall 2021 campaign with a 3-1 win over Mountain Valley Conference opponent Fulton-Montgomery on Monday afternoon in Johnstown, NY. The win lifted the Generals record to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play.

The Generals didn't waste any time getting on the scoreboard as Ali Somow (Utica, NY) notched the first goal of the game just 5 minutes in to give Herkimer the 1-0 lead that they would take into halftime. Just 11 minutes into the second half, Jugad Boparai (Raelingen, Norway) scored to extend the Generals lead to 2-0.

After a Raider goal cut the Herkimer lead in half to 2-1 with 25 minutes remaining, Ikiel Collins-Brown (Monroe, NY) put the game away for the Generals with just over 10 minutes remaining to give Herkimer the 3-1 win. Manabu Takahashi (Osaka, Japan) got the win in goal for the Generals, making 4 saves on the afternoon.

Herkimer, ranked #2 in the latest NJCAA Division III National Poll, now have 9 days off before returning to the pitch at Wehrum Stadium on Wednesday, Sept 22 as they will host the Hudson Valley Vikings at 7:00 PM.
