Several Generals Place at Region III Championship

Rochester NY- The Herkimer Generals Swimming and Diving Team finished off their season at the Region III Championship. Several Generals had strong individual performance.

On the first night Matt Travis placed 2nd in the 200 IM while Bobby Dunlap grabbed 8th in the 50 Free.  The second day kicked off with Jasmine Martin placing 6th in the 50 yard backstroke, Matt Travis finished 2nd in the 400 IM breaking the Herkimer College record with a time of 5:02.41. Jasmine finished 7th in the 100 yard butterfly and Bobby finished 8th in the 200 yard freestyle. Both swimmers dropped over 10 seconds off their previous best times.  Session 3 saw Matt finish 5th in the 100 IM and 4th in the 500 yard freestyle. Jasmine Martin took second place in the 100 yard backstroke. The final session had Bobby Dunlap finish 5th in the 100 Freestyle and 4th in the 200 Backstroke in back to back events. Overall, the Generals swimmers all had some of their best races of the season. In almost every event they swam in a General found their way onto the podium.

First year Head Coach Nick Lanckton said, "It was great Having Herkimer back in the pool after two years off. We competed hard, and I'm proud for what we have accomplished. I can't wait for next season where we hope to compete with the top teams in the region."
