Somow Scores Game winner in Double OT

Cathal save vs Ulster

Herkimer, NY – Sophomore Ali Somow (Utica, NY) scored the game winning goal in the 109th minute.  The lone goal of the game came off a fifteen-yard pass from Freshman wing back Zain Ibrhim (Manhattan, NY) who served the ball to freshman Shuntaro Morimoto (Kanagawa, Japan) at the top of the penalty area.  Morimoto played a one touch pass to Somow who beat his defender and finished side netting of the far post.

Freshman goalkeeper Cathal Carney (Springfield, Massachusetts) recorded six saves in the game.

“Ulster was a very good team” Said Coach Pepe Aragon.  They had their chances as well to win the game at different times of the match.”  Cathal came up with three big time saves to keep us in the game.  It was a good goal by Ali off a great pass from Shuntaro.  We learned a lot about ourselves today and will continue to work hard to get better.  I am proud of the guys for grinding it out tonight.”

The #2 nationally ranked Generals will hit the road for the first time of the season where they will take on Tompkins Cortland CC.  Kick-off is at 3:30pm on Sunday.
