Genealogy course

Branch out and discover your roots with a new community course, Climbing Your Family Tree.

Herkimer College is pleased to partner with the Frank J. Basloe Library and the Herkimer Historical Society on a genealogy course.

Climbing Your Family Tree is intended for the beginning family researcher. Students will learn to create a family tree using online and computer-based software. They will also learn how to use both online and physical records in the United States to do genealogical research. There will be an optional “bonus” DNA class added to the end of the course at no cost for those participants who are interested.

Climbing Your Family Tree will meet on Wednesdays (six sessions) from 7:00-9:00 p.m. from November 9 to December 14 (no class on November 23).  All classes are to be held at the Basloe Library, 245 N. Main Street. The fee is $50 and includes limited time access to Ancestry.com for the duration of the course.  If you have questions regarding the course/content, please email herkimerhistorydirector@gmail.com.

Pre-registration is required by November 7 and can be completed by calling (315) 866-0300, extension 8252, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or by visiting www.herkimer.edu/pay-ce.
