Senior Adult Audit Offered at Herkimer College

Herkimer College offers New York State residents aged 60 and older the opportunity to audit courses offered at the College, tuition-free, through the Senior Adult Audit program.

“The Senior Audit allows eligible participants access to courses that are of interest to them and to engage in a scholarly, diverse, and multi-generational learning environment without the pressure of tuition, deadlines, or graded evaluations,” states Herkimer College President Cathleen C. McColgin, Ph.D. “This program is wonderful because it allows seniors to take part in college courses for the pure joy and personal enrichment of learning.”

“This is an exciting opportunity for older adults to engage in the learning process while being able to interact with younger students,” Herkimer County Office for the Aging Director Kathy Fox said.

To register, visit www.herkimer.edu/senioraudit to complete the request form. Forms must include a valid ID/proof of age and can be delivered or mailed to the Herkimer College Registrar’s Office, Robert McLaughlin College Center, Room 216, 100 Reservoir Road, Herkimer, or electronically at registrar@herkimer.edu.

Senior adults who audit college courses are not awarded credit for those courses, and no academic transcript is provided. Some non-tuition fees and/or course materials costs may apply; Senior Adult Audit requests can only be approved if there is space available in the class.

For more information or to complete the request form, visit Herkimer.edu/senioraudit, or call the Registrar’s office at 315-574-4037. Spring classes begin Thursday, January 19, and the last date to add a full-term class is Monday, January 23.
