Dickerson and Bunal play well in finale

SARANAC LAKE, NY – Led by 33 combined points from Korey Bunal (Rome, NY) and Kaylyn Dickerson (Douglasville, GA), the Herkimer Generals went into North Country Saturday afternoon attacking. Having the rest of the team score 16 didn’t put enough pressure on the Saints offensively however, giving Herkimer a 72-49 loss, finishing the regular season losing four straight.

Herkimer 10-15 (6-9) had a slow start to the first half, scoring 13 points. It allowed North Country to build a 17 point lead at half. Keeping their team in the game was Bunal and Dickerson. Bunal finished with a game-high 23 points and nine rebounds, while Dickerson finished with a game-high 14 rebounds, adding 10 points and two blocks as well. Those efforts were squandered as the 17-point lead increased to 23 by the end of regulation.

Herkimer’s other three contributors on Saturday were Alyssa Craig (Fonda, NY), Samantha Randio (Raven, NY) and Raven Griffin (Syracuse, NY). Craig finished with eight points, seven rebounds and two blocks; Randio finished with five points, six rebounds and two assists; Griffin finished with three points and one assist.

With the loss, Herkimer did not qualify for a Regional or Sub-Regional game. They finished the year seventh in the Mountain Valley Conference and 12th in the Region III.
