Herkimer Generals Athletics Program Ties for Second in NATYCAA Daktronics Cup
The National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) has released the final 2023-24 Daktronics Cup standings, with Herkimer College tied for second place.
Established in 2004, the Daktronics Cup recognizes excellence in two-year college athletics based on success in championship competition across all sports. A first-place finish warrants 20 points, second-place 19 points, etc.
The Generals athletics program earned 120.5 points, its most points scored since the 2017-18 season. Herkimer has finished in the top five in 18 of the last 19 years and is the only junior college program to be in the top-10 since the award’s inception 20 years ago.
Rowan College of South Jersey-Gloucester (New Jersey) finished in first place with 158 points, and Harper College (Illinois) tied with Herkimer for second place.
“The success of our athletic program is attributed to the continuous commitment of the coaching staff, athletes, faculty, and staff throughout the year,” said Dean of Students/Director of Athletics Don Dutcher. "The support from our campus has helped build a strong and successful tradition of athletics at Herkimer."
The Generals competed in NJCAA national tournaments in 11 different sports this year.
NATYCAA is the professional organization of two-year college athletics administrators, and membership is open to all two-year institutions from throughout the country. NATYCAA is administered by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).
