Herkimer College Welcomes Students for the Fall 2025 Semester
Herkimer College has begun the Fall 2025 semester with strong enrollment growth and an energized campus community. Students moved into College housing on Saturday, August 30, with classes officially beginning on Tuesday, September 2.
While it is too early to report official enrollment figures, preliminary estimates (excluding College Now enrollment) show an overall increase of approximately 15% compared to last fall. The College is seeing significant gains among new and transfer students.
College officials attribute the growth to several factors, including the SUNY Reconnect initiative, which has helped attract adults who have not previously earned a college degree. Enhanced recruitment, retention, and marketing efforts have also played a key role in boosting enrollment.
Approximately 47% of students are expected to take courses entirely online, reflecting Herkimer’s reputation for quality online programs. The student body is projected to be about 67% full-time and 33% part-time, balancing traditional and non-traditional learners.
“We are excited to welcome our students and to see strong growth in both new and transfer enrollment,” said President Terri Grates Day. “These early indicators show that more students are choosing Herkimer for its supportive environment, academic quality, and flexible options. Whether they are living on campus, commuting, or learning online, every student is an important part of our community.”
Herkimer College continues to build on its reputation as one of the top community colleges in the SUNY system, offering more than 40 associate degree and certificate programs, including fully online options.
