Herkimer County Community College’s Phaethon Named Best Magazine by Community College Humanities Association
The 2025 issue of Phaethon, Herkimer County Community College’s literary and arts publication, has been named "best magazine" in the Eastern Division of the Community College Humanities Association, in addition to receiving several individual student awards. Second place went to Nassau Community College, and third to Baltimore County Community College in Maryland.
Individual student awards include:
- 1stPlace, Best Short Story (In Plain Sight by Tyler McBee)
- 1stPlace, Photography (Echoes by Anthony Aiello)
- 3rdPlace, Artwork (Cover Painting by Lillian Norris)
The student publication team for the 2025 issue included:

The Eastern Division is comprised of community colleges of all sizes in Connecticut, Washington DC, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Puerto Rico.
Phaethon is advised by faculty members Andrew Devitt, Matthew Powers, and Blake Pitcher.
