Herkimer County Community College Announces Athletics Leadership Promotions
Herkimer County Community College has promoted Matthew Lee to director of athletics and Michael Harrington to assistant director of athletics and head baseball coach.
Lee, of Utica, NY has been promoted to director of athletics through succession at Herkimer County Community College and has served as head coach of the College’s nationally recognized men’s basketball program since 2003. Lee brings more than two decades of leadership experience in collegiate athletics to the role.
Lee earned his 500th career victory in November 2024 and was inducted into the New York State Basketball Hall of Fame in April 2025.
As director of athletics, Lee will oversee the College’s intercollegiate athletics programs, support student-athlete development initiatives, supervise departmental operations and continue advancing Herkimer’s longstanding tradition of athletic success.
Harrington, of Herkimer, NY, has been appointed to assistant director of athletics and head baseball coach at Herkimer County Community College. He previously served as admissions assistant and director of admissions at the College. In those roles, he built relationships with school counselors, advised prospective students on academic programs and support services, and organized recruitment events.
Harrington has also previously served as pitching coach for the Herkimer County Community College baseball program before being promoted to head baseball coach.
