Reynolds, Winnie and Hutchison make All-Region Team
HERKIMER, NY – Herkimer College had three swimmers, Kristina Reynolds (Sherburne-Earlville, NY), Kaitlin Winnie (Accord, NY) and Erin Hutchison (Macedon, NY) earn spots on the All-Region Team.
Reynolds, a Liberal Arts& Sciences: General Studies major, made it to both the first and second team in different events. Her first place finish at Regionals in the 200 yd. Butterfly (2:30.89) gave her first team honors, while her third place finish in the 400 yd. Individual Medley (5:23.64) gave her a second team distinction. To date, Reynolds has six first-place finishes and 25 Top 3 finishes. Those first place finishes have come in three events; the Butterfly, Backstroke and Freestyle.
Winnie, an Education: Physical Education major at Herkimer College, earned second team honors for getting second place in the 50 yd. Freestyle (26.90). She too has six first place finishes this season in to two events, the 50 yd. Freestyle and 100 yd. Freestyle. 26.90 was .13 hundredths away from her personal best time this season (26.77). In total, Winnie has 25 Top 3 finishes this season.
Hutchison, an Education: Early Childhood major, captured second team for placing third in the 1650 yd. Freestyle (22:41.21). Her lone first place finish this season came in the same event. Her time in Regionals was a personal best, knocking off seven seconds. Hutchison has 19 Top 3 finishes this season.
Head Swimming Coach Vicki Brown commented on her team’s success by saying, “The women's team prepared themselves both physically and mentally to perform well at this year's Regional Championship meet. We set goals early on in the season and worked hard each and every day so we could achieve those goals. Throughout the meet they maintained a positive attitude and stayed focused on what they wanted to accomplish.”
