Campanian runs for two National Championships

HERKIMER, NY – The Herkimer Generals women’s track and field team saw freshman Victoria Campanian (Glenfield, NY) win two individual National Championships last week in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and 10,000-meter run at D’Alessandro Stadium in Utica, NY, earning her Female Track Athlete of the Meet honors in consecutive weeks.

Campanian posted an 11:22.94 in the steeplechase, her best time of the season by 21 seconds, placing first in the event the third time this season, most recently at the Region III Championship.

As for the 10,000 Campanian posted a 40:30.69. It was her second-best time of the season, running a 40:25.89 at regionals last week which also gave her All-Regional honors.

Campanian’s Head Coach Sharon Howell, who now has 20 individual national championship in over three decades of service at Herkimer College said, “Victoria has done everything we’ve asked of her this season. She is a quiet leader whom I’m glad to have on my team. Her hard work paid off in both regionals and nationals, capturing first team All-Region and first team All-American honors in three separate events. She deserves everything that came her way!”
