#4Pete breaks attendance record at Saranac
UTICA, NY – Two days prior to the 37th annual 15K Boilermaker, during ‘Saranac Thursday’, Herkimer College helped the brewery break an attendance record with their #4Pete Twitter campaign. 4,000 individuals from all over the area participated in holding four fingers up in the air in reference to fallen soccer star Peter McAvoy.
Joining the Generals in support were “Showtime” and “New York Rock”, bands from the New York area. Along with them was head men’s soccer coach Pepe Aragon and recent bronze medalist Erin Hamlin. Each referenced McAvoy with four fingers held in the air on the stage of the brewery with all others in the background.
The photo, which has gone viral on social media, was easily the largest showing of support since #4Pete began during the spring.
