HERKIMER, NY – Helping the Herkimer Generals women’s soccer team remain undefeated against DIII competition last week with two game winners against No. 5 Hudson Valley and Broome Community College, freshman Teigha Ward was awarded NJCAA DIII Player of the Week.

Ward, a forward for the Generals has led the offense accumulating a team-high 17 goals which is fifth best in the nation. It took three of those goals to defeat both the Vikings (2-1) and Hornets (1-0), improving Herkimer’s national ranking this week to No. 3 in DIII. Ward has scored in every game for the Generals but one, netting two or more goals five times with a season-high four goals against North Country.

“It’s good to see someone like Teigha Ward getting the attention she deserves,” said Head Women’s Soccer Coach Ryan Brooks-Newton. “Besides being a great player on the field, she’s an even better person off it. I am not surprised at all with her success as she is an extremely hard worker, preparing better than most for each game she plays in!”
