  • Alcohol Awareness Week
In observation of National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week, Herkimer College students participated in a Mocktail Event. The purpose of the event was to promote awareness and prevention of alcohol abuse and impaired driving. Sixteen student clubs set up booths with prevention messages and created mocktails. Stop DWI was on hand with beer goggles and a simulated driving course. Students wore the beer goggles while navigating the course and taking a sobriety test. Domestic Violence of Catholic Charities also was present to help students understand how alcohol and violence are related. The Physical Therapist Club won the best tasting mocktail. • Herkimer College Brings Awareness to Domestic Violence
Herkimer College’s College Center entrance is lit up in purple this month in an effort to bring awareness to domestic violence. This is one of several ways Herkimer College is doing its part to observe Domestic Violence Awareness Month and to let victims know they’re not alone and that resources are available regardless of where they live. Purple is the symbolic color for domestic violence awareness, and historically, the battered women’s movement.
