HERKIMER, NY – The Herkimer Generals men’s soccer team had two players named to the 2014 NJCAA DIII All-American Team this week. Forward Ben Polk earned first-team honors, while midfielder Jermaine Windster earned second team.

Polk, a resident of Banbury, UK and Liberal Arts and Sciences: Generals Studies major at Herkimer College, led the nation in goals with 33, scoring in every game but two for the Generals, helping the team to a third place finish at nationals. The sophomore also headed an offensive attack which accumulated 110 goals in 20 games, third best in the nation. Additionally, Polk had four hat tricks and 11 games with two or more goals accumulating a season-high five (goals) against Clinton Community College, only playing in the first half of that contest.

As for Windster, the native of Rotterdam, Holland who is also a Liberal Arts & Sciences: Generals studies major, managed 13 goals and 14 assists for the Generals in 19 games. His 14 assists were fourth best in the nation, helping the Generals to 97 total assists which were third best nationally. One of four captains on the team, Windster had a goal or assist in 14 games, managing a hat trick in assists in back-to-back games against Clinton and North Country.

“Both players are well deserving picks for the NJCAA DIII All-American team,” said Head Men’s Soccer Coach Pepe Aragon. “Each played a huge part in our offense. Ben is a phenomenal goal scorer combined with great speed and skill. Jermaine is a great attacking player who is impressive with both feet which is exceptional for a player his size. Both will do great things at their four-year schools, not only as players, but students as well!”
