The General Perspective: ASC, Key to a Student's Success

The Academic Support Center services play an integral part in your student’s success. All Academic Support Center services are free of charge and accessible to students in need. Some of the services provided include Tutoring, Academic Coaching, Group Study, Academic Success Workshops, Collaborative Learning Space, Computer Labs and Study Rooms, Learning Styles and Strength Assessment, Skill Improvement, and Voter Registration Information.

For students who may need a little extra help, making an appointment with a tutor in the Academic Support Center has never been easier. The only requirement is a device with access to the Internet. Go to MyHerkimer and look for the “Tutoring Appointments” icon. For a video tutorial, click here.

Transitioning from high school to college is difficult enough for students. For students with disabilities, this may be even more of a challenge. Students who had services available in high school may be reluctant to use those in college. Students with disabilities are always welcome to go to the Accessibility Services Office within the Academic Support Center to use the services available. Services include Sign language interpretation, assistance with notetaking or e-notes, someone to be an advocate to help set up alternative testing arrangements, or even a point in the right direction for other services located on campus or in the community. To receive these services, students must be registered with the Accessibility Services Office.

The Academic Support Center is in the Ronald F. Williams Library building, right above the college bookstore. Alongside its current hours, it will now be open to students on Sundays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
