Alumni Donate Items for STAR Recovery Room

STAR Donations

Herkimer College’s Students Thriving at Recovery (STAR) program creates a culture of empowerment, support, and opportunity for students in recovery. STAR is designed to provide an educational opportunity alongside recovery support to ensure students do not have to sacrifice one for the other. Students struggling with substance abuse can participate in group meetings, awareness events and individual counseling. Many students find comfort in our STAR Recovery Room (located in RMCC 223), a safe space with resources, where students can meet with a recovery coach, attend group meetings, or simply relax.

Recently, Ken and Maureen Provost, both 1978 graduates, generously donated several motivational books, a handmade wooden shelf/coat rack, and a beautiful wood-carved art piece for the recovery room. Thank you to the Provosts for their thoughtful donations, which will certainly help students in recovery thrive by providing an enhanced environment to support their well-being.

For more information about the STAR program, contact the Counseling Center at (315) 574-4034 or counseling@herkimer.edu, or stop by the office located in CA 130.
