Three in a row for the Generals

On Thursday the Herkimer Women’s Soccer Team traveled to Syracuse to open up Region 3 play against Onondaga Community College. The Generals continued their streak of scoring early as Hailey Couchman (Baldwinsville, NY) started the scoring 16 minutes into the game giving the Generals the early 1-0 lead. The lead didn’t last long as the Lazers answered six minutes later with a free kick. Even though O.C.C. would be outshot, they found a way to collect a second goal giving them a 2-1 halftime lead.

In the second half, the Generals created chance after chance and finally capitalized with 7 seconds remaining in regulation. Freshman Haley Harrington (Munnsville, NY) found the net off a Hannah Taylor (St. Johnsville, NY) corner. Keeping the momentum from the regulation heroics, Mikayla Blumenstock (Poland, NY) would cap off the comeback win with a header from a Hailey Couchman cross with 4:44 left in the first overtime. The Generals are now 3-0 on the season and 1-0 in Region 3 play.
