General lose first game of the season

Herkimer, NY – Herkimer lost their first game of the season to visiting Cayuga CC 3-2.  The Spartans struck first in the 2nd minute of play off a goal from Grant Stamp.  The Generals tied the game in the 8th minute off a goal from sophomore Gus Ward (London, England) off an assist from Abelardo Mendoza (Bridgeport, CT).  The Spartans went ahead 2-1 on a goal from Mauricio Kosegarten in the 31st minute.  Cayuga struck again in the second half in the 49thminute off a goal from Paul Coyle. 

 

Herkimer closed the lead to 3-2 off a goal from sophomore Luke Murphy (Glasgow, Scotland) in the 64th minute off an assist from sophomore Kadeem Joseph (Brooklyn, NY).  The Generals had several chances to tie the game but came up short.  Cayuga would go on to win and snap Herkimer's 13 game winning streak.

 

Sophomore goalkeeper Roandre Wollery (Hartford, CT) conceded three goals in 90 minutes of play.  The Generals will be back on the road against Mohawk Valley CC on 10/4.  Kick-off is set to start at 4:00 pm.
