Murphy’s Three Goals Lead Generals To Region III Championship

Batavia, NY - The Herkimer Generals men won their 28th Consecutive Region III B district championship by defeating number three seed Onondaga CC 4-0.  Sophomore forward Luke Murphy (Glasgow, Scotland) who was named the Region III B Most Valuable Player recorded a hat trick.  Murphy scored all three goals in the second half.  His first goal came in the 62nd minute off an assist from freshman midfielder Tyler Dobinson (Exeter, England).  Dobinson played a ball over the top of Onondagas defense and Murphy beat Lazers goalkeeper Kevin Czuba on a breakaway.  Murphy’s second goal came in the 68 minute off an assist from freshman midfielder Marvin Tapia (Manassas, Virginia).  Tapia played the ball over the top Murphy for another breakaway finish.  Murph finished out his scoring in the 75th minute off an assist from sophomore Walter Medina (Brooklyn, NY).  Medina found Murphy at the top of the penalty area where Murphy beat Touched the ball past Czuba and beat a defender for the goal.  Sophomore defender Kadeem Joseph (Brooklyn, NY) finished out the scoring for the Generals in the 87th minute on a great individual goal.  Joseph intercepted a pass at half field and beat three Lazers defenders and the goalkeeper for a tremendous goal.  Sophomore goalkeeper Roandre Wollery (Hartford, CT) recorded two saves in 90 minutes of play.

Camilo Avendano (Cape Coral, Florida), Joseph and Tapia were Named to the Region III B all tournament team.  Murphy was named most valuable player.  

The Generals now await the seeding for the NJCAA Division III National tournament that will be hosted by Herkimer College on November 9th - 12th.
