Two Herkimer Men's Soccer Players named to Academic All American Team

Herkimer, NY— Sophomores Chris Capaldo (Smithtown, NY) and Andre Blanco (Cape Coral, Florida) have been named to the 2018 United Soccer Coaches Junior College Men’s Scholar All-American Team.

Capaldo, a forward, recoded 12 goals and four assists for 28 points on the season and was named to the first team. He was also named first team All-Region III, Mountain Valley Conference and named to the All-Tournament team in the Region III play-offs. 

              Blanco was part of a defense that allowed only nine goals and had 12 shutouts on the season and was named to the second team. He had three assists on the season.

“Chris and Andre have worked so hard on the field and in the classroom and truly deserve this award,” said coach Pepe Aragon. “They exemplify what a true student athlete should be, excelling in both environments. Both will do great at their four year schools.”

              Both players will receive their awards at the All-American luncheon in Chicago, Illinois on Saturday, January 12th which is part of the 2019 United Soccer Coaches National Convention.  They will receive their awards with every All-American and Scholar All-American from high school through NCAA Division I.
