Herkimer Women have strong showing at Alfred State Swim Meet

Alfred, NY - After a one week break, the Herkimer College Women's Swimming and Diving team had a strong showing at the Alfred State Swim Meet on Saturday afternoon. Coach Vicki Brown's squad finished second overall in the competition and had several swimmers gain personal bests and two athletes who qualified for Nationals in their respective events.

Amanda Mascia (Matoaca, Virginia) once again led the Generals efforts as she finished 2nd in the 100 BA with a personal best time and qualified for the NJCAA National Championships in that event. She also finished 1st in the 100 FR and 2nd in the 50 FR. Hong Phuc Dang (Mohawk, NY) qualified for Nationals with her time in the 200 BR and achieved her best time ever in the 100 BR. Chereima Johnson (New York, NY) swam a personal best in the 100 FR and Abigail Janczuk (Oneida, NY) also notched a personal best time in the 50 FR.

The Generals conclude the regular season portion of their schedule with a trip to Batavia, NY on Saturday, Feb 2nd to compete in the Genesee Community College Invite. Start time for that meet is set for 1:00 PM.
