# 2 Herkimer defeats # 6 Genesee in Region III Showdown
Herkimer, NY – The #2 nationally ranked Generals men’s soccer team scored two second half goals to beat visiting #6 Genesee CC in a big Region III battle. With the win, the Generals improve to 13-0 on the season.
Freshman Ikiel Collins-Brown (Highland Mills, NY) scored the first goal of the game in the 55th minute off an assist from sophomore Ryheim Hinds (Bridgeport, Connecticut). Hinds played the ball to Collins-Brown who took on two defenders and struck the ball from just outside of the left side of the penalty area scoring in the upper left corner. Sophomore Shemar Blair (Brampton, Ontario, Canada) scored ten minutes later in the 66th minute off an assist from sophomore Mupenzi Irakiza (Syracuse, NY). Irakiza took on two defenders on the left side of the halfway line and played a through ball to Blair who scored on a breakaway.
Sophomore Tinius Klausen (Oslo, Norway) recorded three saves including a big breakaway save in the second half to keep the clean sheet. The Generals will now host Jefferson CC on Wednesday at Wehrum Stadium. Kick-off is at 4:30pm.
