Herkimer Women move to 6-0 with weekend road sweep, enter National Polls at # 9

Corning and Canandaigua, NY - It was a weekend filled with smiles and enjoyment for the Herkimer Women’s Basketball team, who improved to 6-0 with wins over Corning Community College, and Finger Lakes Community College respectively. 

 They struggled offensively in the first half versus Corning on Saturday, compiling 33 points and missing layups in bunches, but a 23 point third quarter put the game away for the undefeated Generals with a 74-63 win.

 Leading Scorers:

 Freshman guard Junasia Lanier (Albany) 19 points (five 3-pointers)

 Sophomore guard Lexi Debeatham (Shaker) 18 points

 Freshman center Alysia Roldan (East Greenbush) 10 points

 The following afternoon, Herkimer outscored the Lakers 27-8 in the first quarter, and never looked back, defeating Finger Lakes Community College 86-47.

Forced a season-high 24 steals

Committed 18 turnovers

 Freshman guard Amber Been (Bronx) 15 points (2-of-3 from three), 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 7 steals

 Freshman center Alysia Roldan (East Greenbush) 10 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals

 The Lady Generals look to keep their winning streak alive with two home games before Thanksgiving break. The first is vs. Jefferson Community College at 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 21st, and the next is vs. SUNY Broome at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23rd.
