# 5 Herkimer defeats North Country, improves to 8-0 on the season

Herkimer, NY - The Herkimer Women’s Soccer Team hosted conference rival North Country on Wednesday night. The #5 nationally ranked Generals came into the game with a 7-0 record and outscored opponents 51 to 5 during that stretch. They would once again get off to a quick start as they took an early 1-0 lead 5 minutes into the contest. Tayler Clark (Poland, NY) found Emily LeBlanc (Morrisville, NY) for the opening goal of the game. 6 minutes later The country’s leading scorer Kristen Purcell (Sauquoit, NY) would double the lead off a Raquel Burton (Liverpool, NY) through ball. Purcell less than a minute later made it 3-0 as Kayla Suppa (Oneida, NY) laid it off nicely for her to finish. North Country grabbed one back 10 minutes later as Skyelin Bradford broke through to put the Saints on the board. Suppa would put the Generals’ lead back to 3 after some crafty play from Clark & LeBlanc to make it 4-1. That is how it would stay until halftime.

After the break Purcell would complete her hat trick after a Keara Blumenstock (Poland, NY) ball in the 62nd minute. Blumenstock would finish the scoring in the 83nd minute when Madison Hampston (Poland, NY) found her for the 6-1 final. Kara Steacy (Cincinnatus, NY) made 2 saves in the win. Herkimer improves to 8-0 on the season and 4-0 in Mountain Valley Conference play. The Generals are back in action 12:30 this Sunday at home against Corning CC at Wehrum Stadium
