Generals season ends with Regional Semifinal loss to Onondaga

Saranac Lake, NY - The most successful season in recent memory for the Herkimer Generals Women's Basketball team is over.

In a Region III Women's Basketball Semifinal, the # 3 seeded Generals dropped an 83-58 decision to the # 2 seeded Onondaga Lazers on Saturday afternoon at North Country Community College in Saranac Lake, NY. The loss ends the Generals season with a record of 19-6, with three of those losses coming at the hands of OCC.

The Generals shot out to a 20-15 lead at the end of the first quarter before OCC used a 23-11 second quarter to lead at the half by 7. Herkimer went toe to toe with OCC in the third quarter, trailing by a score of 57-49 going into the 4th before the Lazers used a big 4th quarter to close out the win and advance to the Region III Championship Game.

Center Alysia Roldan (East Greenbush, NY) led the Herkimer attack with 15 points. Amber Been (Bronx, NY) chipped in with 13 and Senior Guard Lexi DeBeatham (Menands, NY) ended her stellar career at Herkimer with 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals. Been was named to the 2020 Region III All Tourney Team.

Coach Gabe Coffey's team spend multiple weeks ranked in the NJCAA Division III Top Ten and will return many players from this year's Regional Semifinal team. Congratulations to Coach Coffey and her squad for a great 2019-2020 season!
