Kyle Roepnack named Region III Athletic Trainer of the Year

Herkimer College head athletic trainer Kyle Roepnack was recently named the 2019-2020 Region III Trainer of the Year by the Region III Athletic Trainers. Roepnack, who holds a bachelor’s degree from Springfield College, has been a certified trainer since 2008 and has been employed as the head athletic trainer at Herkimer College since 2005.

Kyle Roepnack headshotRoepnack is the chairperson and one of the founders for the Region III Health and Safety Committee, a member of the NJCAA Student Athlete Safety and Welfare Council, and the NJCAA representative on the National Athletic Trainer’s Association Intercollegiate Council for Sports Medicine.

At Herkimer College, Roepnack helped modernize the athletic department by introducing and developing livestream video of home matchups. He also is a strong promoter for the College’s summer athletic camps, and he is the lead liaison with the College’s student-athlete end of the season surveys.  He continues to work closely with students, student-athletes, faculty, staff, Region III, and the NJCAA.

“Kyle is an energetic, committed and competent employee who works diligently to represent our athletic department at Herkimer in the highest magnitude,” said Donald Dutcher, the College’s dean of students and athletic director. “The area that he oversees has improved drastically over the past 10-plus years. He has proven himself both with his job responsibilities as an athletic trainer and a leader in our region.”

“Winning the Region III Athletic Trainer of the Year Award is a tremendous honor,” Roepnack said. “An award voted by your peers recognizing the effort to provide the safest environment possible for NJCAA student athletes is remarkable. It is a testament to the Herkimer Generals athletic department’s effort to provide a great environment for young student-athletes to succeed.”
