After Region III Championship win, Herkimer softball players earn Region III First and Second Team honors

HERKIMER,NY—Six players on the Herkimer Generals softball have earned spots on the 2021 All-Region III First and Second Teams.

Outfielder Melissa Daigneault (North Greenbush, NY) and designated payer Kayla Young (Baldwinsville, NY) earned the First Team honors for the College. Daigneault led the Generals with 30 RBI’s on the season while hitting .395, and Young was the team leader in home runs with seven and hit .400.

Second team selections for the Generals were catcher Kourtney Ketcham (Otisville, NY), infielder Aubrey Ketcham (Otisville, NY), utility player Alexis Garrison (Clifton Park, NY) and pitcher Madison Ihnat (Boca Raton, FL)

The Generals, who currently have a record of 22-4, won the Region III Championship for the ninth straight season under head coach PJ Anadio. They’ll be participating in the upcoming NJCAA Division III Softball National Championships at Carrier Park in Syracuse, NY from May 27 to May 29.

The Generals won the national title in 2013 and have had five National Runner-Up finishes at the national tournament.
