Generals Compete at Bruce Brigman Invitational
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Herkimer Generals were back in action this past Saturday (9/18), competing in the annual Bruce Bridgman Invitational hosted by Finger Lakes Community College.
Neither the men or the women managed to field a complete team of five, though there were some good performances turned in.
For the men, Chase Bowman (West Canada Valley/Little Falls, N.Y.) an Chris Hardin (Rome Free Academy/Rome, N.Y.) finished close to each other once again. The times of 36:50.0 (7:24 pace per mile) for Chase and 37:07.7 (7:28 pace) for Chris were good to finish 29th and 31st, respectively.
The women, on the other hand, saw Kaylan Zysk (Little Falls/Little Falls, N.Y.) turn in her 2nd straight 4th place finish. Her time of 23:37.6 equates to a 7:37 pace per mile. Also competing for the Lady Generals were Catherine Chapman (DeRuyter/DeRuyter, N.Y.) and Breyona Wallace. The pair placed 19th and 20th respectively with times of 37:51.2 (12:12/mile) for Catherine and 43:11.2 (13:55/mile) for Breyona.
Herkimer will have a weekend’s rest before returning to competition. The next meet will be at Cazenovia College on October 2nd. It will be the first of 3 meets in 8 days for the Generals’ runners.
