Hawks Knock Off Generals In The Last Minute

Herkimer NY- The Herkimer Generals hosted the Mohawk Valley to Wehurm Stadium October 17th. The back and fourth action, drew a 0-0 tie through the first half. 

The Hawks jumped out quickly in the second half to go up 1-0 but Freshman Midfielder Kate Blough (Elka Park, NY) tied the game up 1-1 on a assist from Hailey Traut (Frankfort, NY). Traut's assist puts her at the top in the nation, with 17 assists. The Hawks added a goal in the last minute of the game, to secure the win over the Generals. 

Freshman Goal Keeper Kurstin Gay was stellar for the Generals, with 15 saves on the day. 

Coach Damon Neish said after the game: "That was a fantastic game, MV have been blowing teams away this year and we had a lot of positives to take away. Kenzie Magnusson and Taya Yacobucci was fantastic, they frustrated their center midfielders all day. We battled all afternoon and I'll take this performance, knowing we live to fight another day. I am really looking forward to regionals now, I want another crack at North Country, Finger Lakes, Genesee and MV."

The Generals start there playoff action Wednesday (10/27) when they travel to North Country a 2 o'clock start.
