Generals Knock Off Genesee in OT

Herkimer NY- The Herkimer Generals hosted the Genesee CC Cougars in the final game of the regular season on Tuesday (2/15). The Generals jumped out ahead in the first half 39-31 but the Cougars outscored the Generals 36-28 to tie the game at 67 at the end of regulation. In overtime, the Generals offense prevailed and won 78-75. 

The Generals were led by Jenna Faulkner(Otego, NY) who had 19 points, 18 rebounds, 3 assists, 6 steals and 3 blocks. Kapri Bradshaw (Uniondale, NY) had 19 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists, 5 steals and 2 blocks. Monica Hartleib (Canajoharie, NY) added 12 points and pulled down 8 rebounds for the Generals.

The Generals close out the season 17-7 clinching a share of the Mountain Valley Conference championship for the first time since 1998. First year head coach Matt Hazzard noted, "It's been 24 years since the Herkimer Women's Basketball team has been able to call themselves conference champions. This group put has put a lot of faith in the coaches and over the year have developed a fantastic chemistry on and off the court. As a coach, you just want to give your players the tools to succeed. It takes them to execute, make shots and bring it everyday. To say I'm proud is a major understatement."

Herkimer grabbed the number four seed for the Region 3 tournament and will host the Genesee Cougars on Tuesday (2/22) at 5 P.M. The game can be viewed at Herkimer Generals Livestream
