Karen Jones, PT, DPT, Named Professor Emeritus

The Herkimer County Community College Board of Trustees recently approved emeritus status for Karen Jones, PT, DPT, effective October 28, 2025.

Jones joined the faculty in 2002 as an instructor of physical therapy and coordinator of clinical education. She was promoted to assistant professor in 2011 and to associate professor and program director in 2015. In 2021, she achieved the rank of professor. Jones received the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2008.

Dr. Jones’ commitment to serving students has remained consistent throughout her years at Herkimer, and this is reflected in the numerous awards she has received and in the success of her students,” said Provost Michael Oriolo. Graduates’ pass rates on the state board exam and two-year employment rates have consistently been at or near 100 percent.

Jones holds an associate degree in Physical Therapist Assistant from Herkimer County Community College and a Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Physical Therapy degrees from Utica College of Syracuse University.

Emeritus status is an honor granted by the Board of Trustees to retired professional academic and administrative staff members who have demonstrated excellence and commitment to Herkimer County Community College.
