White named Green & Gold Male Athlete for October

HERKIMER, NY – Sophomore Mitchel White was named Green & Gold Male Athlete of the Month for October. White, a Liberal Arts & Sciences: General Studies major at Herkimer College, helped the Generals capture their 25th consecutive Region III Championship, defeating Genesee last weekend (11/1) at Tompkins-Cortland Community College.
White, a resident of Leicester, England had quite the month, scoring in consecutive games which doubled his output from September, seeing the defender score his first career NJCAA DIII goal against Fulton-Montgomery Community College in a 9-0 victory. His two goals in October helped the team outscore opponents 42-1 in seven games.
White however made a bigger impact on defense, helping shut out six opponents, four of them on the road. The team increased their Mountain Valley Conference record to 6-0 in the process, defeating Hudson Valley (3-0) Mohawk Valley (7-0) and SUNY Delhi (2-1). In October, White helped the defense average .143 goals against per game, the best in the nation.
"Mitch is the General of our back four,” said Head Men’s Soccer Coach Pepe Aragon. “He does a great job keeping us organized and keeping our shape. Mitch is a tremendous leader both on and off of the field!"
