Five goals enough for Thunderducks to advance

HERKIMER, NY – Scoring a total of five goals, three in the first half and two in the second, the #2 Richland Thunderducks defeated the #7 Bunker Hill Bulldogs at Wehrum Stadium Thursday evening to advance to the NJCAA DIII Men’s Soccer National Semifinal.

Richland (21-1-1, 2-0) conceded the first goal of the game in the 24th to Rossel Cacho, but answered back with three goals of their own in the final 21 minutes to lead 3-1 at half. Mac Justin Reyes scored in the 27th, Jose Antonio Hernandez scored in the 29th and Danny Barnard scored in the 42nd.

Bunker Hill again came out strong to start the second half, scoring in the 48th to cut the Thunderducks leads to 3-2, but Richland was too much after that scoring in the 53rd and 71st to push the lead up to three by the end of regulation. Netting goals for the Thunderducks were Oscar Ocampo and Eduardo Ruiz-Liberes.

In goal for Richland was Igor Do Nacimento and for Bunker Hill was ever Barrera. Do Nacimento saved three and Barrera saved eight in 90 minutes.
