HERKIMER, NY - The Herkimer General’s Women’s Soccer team recently garnered more awards as three of their players were named to the 2014 NSCAA All-American Team.

Sophomore midfielder Dani Nicosia, Oneonta,NY, was named to the 1st team earning NSCAA All-American status for the second time. Freshmen forward Teigha Ward, Ilion, NY, & freshmen goalkeeper Sydney Stanley were named to the 2nd team. They will receive their awards at the NSCAA Convention in Philadelphia, PA on January 17th at the All-American Awards Luncheon where high school & college soccer players from all over the country will be in attendance.

It is extremely rare to have three team members named to the NSCAA All-American Team. The last time for Herkimer women’s soccer was 2006. Some of the sport’s biggest names have been lined up to attend the star-studded convention such as Pele, former Manchester United Coach Sir Alex Ferguson, and former National Team Captain & more recently MLS Champion Landon Donovan are all slated to be there.

“I’m very proud to have three All-Americans on one team,” said Head Women’s Soccer Coach Ryan Brooks-Newton. “It shows how far they have come in a short period of time, but it’s a testament to our team, proving we are going in the right direction. I’m a very proud coach!”
