A Q&A with Human Service Professionals: Learn what it really takes to prepare for and work in the human services field

Herkimer County Community College is hosting “A Day in the Life of Human Services,” a moderated Q&A with a panel of several area professionals in the field. The goal of the panel is to share fist-person insights into the human services industry, giving prospective students a peek at real-world applications of the study. Speakers will also share their own approaches to the career, give tips on how to prepare for entering the human services workforce, and discuss various job opportunities and career options at their respective organizations. The panelists are:

  • Crystal Gerhardt, Catholic Charities
  • Lori Meyers, LCSW
  • Linda Patten, Herkimer Co. DSS
  • Jodi Warren, Center For Family Life and Recovery
  • Patti Williams, ACCESS-VR

In addition to current Herkimer College students, several area high schools have been invited to bring their junior and senior students to attend. The Q&A will be moderated by Suzanne Paddock, Herkimer College’s director of career services.

This event will provide great video and photo opportunities. Reporters/photographers wishing to cover the event should park outside the Robert McLaughlin College Center.
