Generals use stellar defensive effort to win at Hudson Valley

Troy, NY - The # 4 Herkimer women's basketball team bounced back from a tough loss at North Country with a 59-43 win at Hudson Valley on Saturday afternoon in Troy, NY. The win lifts Herkimer's record to 12-3 overall and 5-1 in the Mountain Valley Conference.

Lexi DeBeatham (Menands,NY) returned home and led the Generals with 16 points. Freshman center Alysia Roldan (East Greenbush, NY) chipped in with 12 points and sophomore guard Namir Davis (Utica, NY) added 11. The Generals used a suffucating defensive effort, allowing the Vikings just 23 points through 3 quarters while cruising to the 16 point win. Herkimer held Hudson Valley to 18% shooting from the field and 3-23 from 3 point range. The Vikings scored 20 of their 43 points from the free throw line.

The Generals return home for a huge week of games, starting on Monday night with a game at home against # 9 Onondaga Community College. The Lazers turned back the Generals in the first meeting of the year in December in Syracuse, NY. Game time on Monday is set for 7:00 PM.
