Tell us a little about yourself.
I’ve been a reporter for 9 years in three different cities, Syracuse, Utica, and Albany. Currently I am the spokesman for the state's Department of Corrections and Community Service. I enjoy running, cooking, and playing poker when I’m not out with my friends.
Why did you choose Herkimer College?
I chose Herkimer College because it was close to home, offered the area of study I wanted, and was financially the right move to make.
What are your greatest career and/or personal successes to date?
My greatest career successes to date is evolving to where I am. In nine years I’ve covered a Pope’s visit to New York City, The Boston Marathon Bombing, a Vice Presidential visit to Fort Drum, traveled all over the country to cover the NCAA Tournament, and uncovered abuse in the state’s food stamp program that led to legislation by the state senate to change the way it is run.
How has Herkimer College helped you to succeed?
Herkimer College was a great starting point to learn the basics needed to be ready at the next level. During my time there I was able to do so much hands-on work that paid off when I transferred to Oswego State, and eventually got my first job in the business.
What were some of your favorite things about attending Herkimer?
I always enjoyed the campus. It was a small, close-knit campus but still had the feel of college.
Did you compete in a sport at Herkimer College?
I did not compete in sports but, through the radio/tv program, covered and called many soccer, lacrosse, and basketball games live on TV and radio. We traveled with the team and called three national Championships – one on Long Island, and in Maryland.
What advice would you give to future Herkimer College students?
Take advantage of everything the college has to offer. You may not have the same opportunity for such hands-on experiences at the next college, so do and learn all you can before you leave.
