Veteran & Father Achieves Academic Excellence

Adam Lisser

Current Honor Student

Are you a current student or alumni?
I am a current student at Herkimer. This is my 3rd semester.

Tell us a little about yourself.
I'm a US Army veteran from Rome NY. I served from 2005 to 2012 on active duty, and did one tour in Iraq from 2007-2009.

I'm a dedicated student with a 3.89 GPA, while still taking care of my son while my wife is stationed at Ft. Stewart, GA.

I'm the History Club President and a Vice President for SGA and PTK.

My goal is to get my associates in Cybersecurity at Herkimer College, and then I will apply to a school down in Virginia where my family will be moving.

Why did you choose Herkimer College?
My sister recommended it to me and when I took a look at Herkimer College, I knew it was the right path to take.

What are your greatest career and/or personal successes to date?
My most important successes have been: having my son, being in charge of millions of dollars of military equipment, and making sure that equipment was accounted for and moved correctly.

How has Herkimer College helped you to succeed?
Herkimer College has given me all the tools I have needed to get where I am today in college. I cannot thank them enough for that.

What were some of your favorite things about attending Herkimer?
The classes and teachers have always been outstanding. That is one of the big sellers for me at Herkimer College. I have worked with almost every department, and the staff and faculty have all been amazing.

What advice would you give to future Herkimer College students?
I would tell future students that college can be hard, but buckle down and get it done right. It's your future, so make the best of it.
