This course is designed to study the development of world civilizations in the modern era (c.a. 1500-present). This course will focus on the origins, geographical context, major religions, culture, and interaction of world civilizations. Topics studied will include, but not be limited to, Eurasian trade and commerce, colonialism, the transatlantic slave trade, World War I, World War II, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, modern day China, and modern day Islam.
