Point of Pride #45 - Facilities Department
August 9, 2019
It’s no surprise to Herkimer College students that central New York can see a lot of snow in the wintertime - an average of 88 total inches, to be exact! While all that powder makes a white, crystalline landscape aesthetic great for photo ops and getting in the holiday spirit, it isn’t quite as fun when you have to walk or drive through it to get to class.
That’s why our next point of pride is our facilities and maintenance workers! An often unseen job, these staff members wake up in the early hours to shovel, plow, and salt our campus to help keep us safe through the winter. Plus, our 500 acres of land and 11 campus buildings give them plenty of work when it isn’t snowing, too!
