The General’s Cupboard
The General’s Cupboard stocks a variety of FREE canned and packaged food and other non-perishable items, as well as personal care items. The General's Cupboard exists to assist all Herkimer College students. A valid student ID is required.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, for the foreseeable future, the General's Cupboard will not be open for walk-in access. Select items are available on a cart inside the RMCC entrance. To request further assistance from the General's Cupboard, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will coordinate with you. In emergency situations in which there is an immediate need for food, please call the Campus Safety Office at 315-866-0300, ext. 8616.
The General's Cupboard welcomes donations to help keep the shelves stocked. Donations can be left in collection boxes located in the Public Relations Office (RMCC 255), Center for Student Leadership & Involvement (RMCC 220), Athletics Office (PE 104), Academic Support Center (LB 104) and Dean of Students Office (CA 264). Below is a list of most needed items.
- Peanut Butter & Jelly
- Canned Fruits & Vegetables
- Canned meats (tuna, chicken)
- Cereal & breakfast bars
- Healthy snacks (granola bars, nuts)
- Toilet paper
Monetary donations are accepted by mail or phone call to the HCC Foundation Office. Checks should be made payable to the HCC Foundation, noting The General's Cupboard in the memo line, and can be mailed to: HCC Foundation, Herkimer College, 100 Reservoir Rd, Herkimer, NY 13350. Credit card payments can be made by calling (315) 574-4015.
