Donald J. Snyder, Esq.

For providing legal guidance and other critical support during the founding of Herkimer County Community College, and continuing to provide key leadership over the ensuing years. As a new attorney, Mr. Snyder reviewed building site proposals for a permanent campus for the College. He visited and inspected the sites, prepared a written report recommending them for the College, and established the title for the property on which the campus is now located. Mr. Snyder served for 22 years on the Board of Trustees of the College, including 12 and a half years as Chairman. He played a prominent role in facilitating the construction of Wehrum Stadium, the Technology Center, the Reservoir Run residential housing units, the Gaynor Science Wing of refurbished laboratories, and the renovated and expanded Williams Library building. Mr. Snyder also served on the College’s Housing Corporation Board of Directors, and the Board of Directors for the Herkimer County College Foundation. In 2004, in order to better understand and appreciate the experience and perspective of the students, he became an alumnus of the College when he graduated with an associate’s degree in fine arts. “An exemplary supporter of the College.”
